Earned eleven letters - five in basketball, five in track and one in baseball. He was the first Norseman to score over 1,000 points - 1,010 total. Played on 1942 team that was invited to NAIA National tournament. Won first place honors in several events at Iowa Conference Track Meets. Served as an aerial navigator in the U.S.Marine Corp,1942-1946, attained the rank of Master Sergeant and received a Presidential Unit Citation.
