Four-year letter winner in basketball who helped Luther to four winning seasons. Served as captain of basketball team in 1934 and was named most valuable player. That same year he made two free throws that gave Luther a 26-25 victory with seconds over the Globe Trotters. Served in U.S. Navy 1943-46. As a high school coach in Minnesota, he had a record of 531-246. He was the only coach to have won district championships in four different regions and the only coach in Minnesota basketball history to have state tournament entries from three different cities. His 1940 and 1941 Red Wing teams finished as state runner-ups. His 1947 Duluth Denfield team won the state championship. Inducted into the Minnesota Coaches Hall of Fame in 1981.
