• Four-year letter winner in basketball who helped Luther to four winning seasons
• Served as captain of basketball team and was named Most Valuable Player - 1934
• That same year he made two free throws that gave Luther a 26-25 victory with seconds over the Globe Trotters
• Served in U.S. Navy 1943-46
• As a high school basketball coach in Minnesota, he had a record of 531-246
• He was the only coach to have won district championships in four different regions and the only coach in Minnesota basketball history to have state tournament entries from three different cities
• Led Red Wing High School teams to state runner-up finishes - 1940, 1941
• Led Duluth Denfield High School to state championship - 1947
• Inducted into the Minnesota Coaches Hall of Fame - 1981
