Hall of Fame
• Entered Luther in fall of 1946 after serving in World War II
• Letter winner in basketball, football and baseball
• Broke all-time scoring record with 1,020 points
• Set the single game scoring record with 33 points
• Set single season scoring record with 404 points as a senior
• Led Iowa Conference with a 20.5 per game average and was named to the all-conference team
• As a high school basketball coach at St. James, Minn., he led three teams to the Minnesota State Tournament
• In 1972 his “James Gang” finished with an unblemished record of 29-0 winning the Class A state championship over Melrose on a halfcourt shot at the buzzer, and went on to win the overall state championship after defeating the Class AA state championship team Mounds View High School by eight points
• He also took two baseball teams to the state tournament
