• Played on Iowa Conference championship football teams - 1938, 1941
• Served as captain of the basketball team that was invited to NAIA National Tournament
• Named to all-conference team
• Served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy, During World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific Theater and in the occupation of Japan - 1942-46
• M.Ed. from University of Minnesota - 1950
• Coach and athletic director at Moorhead High School (Minn.) - 1947-50, and at St. Paul Harding (Minn.) - 1950-1980
