Hall of Fame
• Came to Luther from a farm in Roland, Iowa at age 24 and had seen only one football game
• Played defense on the football team, lettering three years and chosen captain his senior year.
• During the four years he played football, only one opposing team scored on the home field
• Served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, 1942-46, in the Pacific Theater receiving citations and medals for bravery in action
• Following his military service, he was involved in the hardware store business in Blue Earth, Minn., Munising and St. Ignace, Mich., until his retirement in 1973.
