• In his first collegiate game the baseball never reached the first baseman as he faced 27 batters, struck out 16, did not give up a walk and allowed one hit, a double
• During his career won games over Iowa, Missouri, Michigan State, Carleton, Upper Iowa, Gustavus Adolphus and Hosei University of Japan
• Served as captain in senior year
• Pitched for amateur league teams in Minnesota and participated in four state tournaments, including three with Owatonna and one with Austin
• He pitched an exhibition game against the Minneapolis Millers and struck out Ted Williams three times
• Served in U.S. Army - 1942-66
