• Three-year letter winner in football and four-year letter winner in track
• Member of Iowa Conference championship football team - 1941
• Iowa Conference track champion on 880-yard relay team - 1946
• Placed second in the 100-yard dash, 220-yard dash and the broad jump - 1946
• Held the college record in the broad jump and tied the record in the 100-yard dash as a senior
• Participated in the Drake Relays - 1946
• Served in the U.S. Army 1941-45 and received numerous awards for bravery in the Pacific Theater
• Served as Principal and coach at Starbuck, Minn. - 1947-57
• Served as Principal and counselor at Kasson-Mantorville, Minn. - 1957-1982
