Three-year letter winner in baseball. Served as Captain his senior year. Served in U.S. Navy - 1942-45. Coached 19 years of high school baseball with his teams posting a record of 202-49. Led seven teams to the Minnesota State Tournament. Received first Minnesota High School Baseball Coaches Association Dick Siebert Award in 1966. Elected to Minnesota State Baseball Hall of Fame - 1970.
