Four-year letter winner in football and three-year letter winner in track • Member of 1941 championship football team. Served as team captain of football team - 1947. Second team all-conference selection - 1947. Served as a staff sergeant during World War II. Received a Purple Heart, four battle stars and two Invasion Arrowheads. Received a M.A. in 1950 from University of Iowa. Taught and coached at Canby, Waseca, Owatonna and Rochester, Minn.. Elected to the Minnesota Coaches Hall of Fame in 1979.
