DUBUQUE, IOWA – The Luther men's track and field team had its final tune up before the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Indoor Conference Championship next weekend. The team finished fourth out of six teams with 58.50 points.
Brandon Deas (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Thomas B. Doherty) once again beat his own school record in the 60-meter dash by three one-hundredths of a second for a new time of 6.95 seconds for a second-place finish.
FIELD EVENTS
Logan Thompson (Chatfield, Minn. / Chatfield) was eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.70m.
TRACK EVENTS
The Norse had four score points, in the mile run with
Tom Altier (Granger, Iowa / Johnston) took first in the mile run with a time of 1:16.33. He was followed by teammates
Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage) in second (4:21.82),
Adam Koller (Worthington, Minn. / Worthington) in third (4:21.92) and
Benjamin Gillikin (Chester, N.J. / West Morris Central) in sixth (4:26.48).
Leo Duffy (Rockford, Minn. / Rockford) was third in the 800 with a time of 1:58.72.
Malachi Thompson (Johnston, Iowa / Johnston) finished third in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:59.40.
The 4x400 relay team of
Tinashe Chisora (Harere, Zimbabwe / UWC-Waterford Kamhlaba), Duffy, Kelly and Thompson finished fifth.
TOP NORSE
- Brandon Deas (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Thomas B. Doherty) broke his own top time in Norse history in the 60-meter dash for the third time this season.
- Tom Altier (Granger, Iowa / Johnston) won the mile run for the second time this season.
UP NEXT
It's the A-R-C Indoor Track and Field Championship which spans two days Friday, February 24
th and Saturday, February 25
th at Storm Lake, Iowa. Time is yet to be determined.
