The American Rivers Conference has announced that Luther College senior first baseman Owen Vander Linden has been named the league's Position Payer of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 7. this is the first time of his career he has been so honored.
Vander Linden helped lead the Norse to a season-opening sweep of Cornell College (IA), 12-3 and 11-1 in seven innings this past Saturday, March 6. He went 4-for-8 at the plate, driving in seven runs with two home runs and posted a slugging percentage to 1.250 to start the 2021 season.
In game one he went 2-for-4, that included a two-run home run. He scored twice, drove in three RBI and defensively was credited with seven putouts.
In the nightcap he continued to swig a hot bat going 2-for-4 that included a three-run home run. He drove in four runs, stole a base and was credited with seven put outs.Â
