The American Rivers Conference has announced that Sofia Sackett (So., Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) has been named the women's tennis Performer of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 26. This is the first time she has been so honored.
Sackett advanced to the third round for both the ITA Midwest Region Singles (round of 32) and Doubles (round of 16) that was hosted by UW-Whitewater Sept. 24-26.
In singles, Sackett defeated Lindsey Henderson of UW-Eau Claire (6-4, 6-3) and No.24 seed Lilly Fredericks of St. Benedict (6-2, 6-2). She was eliminated from the tournament by No. 7 seed Autumn Bruno of UW-Whitewater (6-3, 6-1).
In doubles, Sackett played with Ana Olimpio (Fr., Brazlandia, Brazil) and the duo defeated Hannah Riegle and Morgan Graf of UW-La Crosse (8-6), and Barbara Covek and Jenna Koepp of UW-Stevens Point (8-6). They dropped their third match to No. 6 seeds Kelsy Dorr and Sofia Walker of St. Catherine's (8-6).
