NORTHFIELD, MINN. – The men's track and field finished fourth out of seven teams picking up 89 points throughout the day.
Tom Altier (Granger, Iowa / Johnston) won the 3000-meter run for the Norse with at time of 8:25.35 for his second first place finish of the season in a distance event.
FIELD EVENTS
For the field events
Joey Mehlhorn (Farmington, Minn. / Farmington) was fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 10.27m which is his new personal best. He also was fifth in shot put throwing 9.08m. And in long jump
Tancrede Lefort (Golbey, France / St. Joseph) and
Leif Carey-Odden (Mount Vernon, Iowa / Mount Vernon) finished second and seventh at 6.01m and 5.24m.
TRACK EVENTS
For sprints
Danny Zewou (Chaska, Minn. / Chaska) finished third in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.85 seconds. Carey-Odden was eighth in the 200-meter dash finishing with a time of 25.03 seconds. In the 600-meter run
Sorley Swanstrom-Arnold (Mellen, Wis. / Washburn) and Harrison Prentice (West Des Moines, Iowa / Theodore Roosevelt) went fourth and fifth with an exact time of 1:29.17. But Swanstrom-Arnold finished just ahead according to the official time by just a fraction of a second. The Norse went second, third and fourth in the 800-meter run with
Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage) with 1:57.26,
Lane Schwarz (Le Suer, Minn. / Le Suer-Henderson) at 1:59.05 and
Isaac Taylor (Iowa City, Iowa / Iowa City West) at 2:03.84. In the mile-run
Malachi Thompson (Johnston, Iowa / Johnston) finished fifth with a time of 4:35.84 while teammate
Matthew Binsfeld (Elk River, Minn. / Elk River) was close behind in seventh at 4:36.20.
Luther had four runners place in scoring spots in the 3000-meter run with
Tom Altier finishing first followed by
Adam Koller in sixth at 8:52.32,
Benjamin Gillikin (Chester, N.J. / West Morris Central) seventh at 8:53.42 and
Kaeden Fellingham (Olathe, Kan. / Olathe South) at 9:00.78 in eighth.
As for the relay teams the 4x200 team finished second with a time of 1:35.62 with a team made up of
Tinashe Chisora (Harere, Zimbabwe / UWC-Waterford Kamhlaba),
Danny Zewou,
Tancrede Lefort and
Brandon Deas (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Thomas B. Doherty). The 4x400 team finished fourth with Chisora,
Will Ode (Des Moines, Iowa / Dowling Catholic), Swanstrom-Arnold and
Leo Duffy (Rockford, Minn. / Rockford) with a time of 3:34.02.
TOP NORSE
- Joey Mehlhorn (Farmington, Minn. / Farmington) setting a new personal best in weight throw to fourth place finish and by finishing fifth in shot put.
