DECORAH, Iowa – The rain stayed away for the Norse Invite as the Luther Men's Track and Field team finished fifth with 86 points out of 11 teams. The Norse posted nine top-five finishes on the day including the 4x400 relay team and
Ian Kelly in the 800m dash claiming the top spots.
FIELD EVENTS
For the high jump
Cole Peters (Mazeppa, Minn. / Zumbrota-Mazeppa) was third with a height of 1.85m followed by Jayden Bialal (Gastonia, NC / Queens Grant) in seventh at 1.75m and
Gideon Armah-Amissah (Columbus, Ga. / Columbus) at 1.70m. Armah-Amissah was also seventh in the triple jump at 12.23m.
Tancrede Lefort (Golbey, France / St. Joseph) was fifth in the long jump recording a mark of 6.41m.
Joey Mehlhorn (Farmington, Minn. / Farmington) was tenth in the shot put with a throw of 10.12m and
Leif Carey-Odden (Mount Vernon, Iowa / Mount Vernon) was tenth in pole vault at 2.75m.
RUNNING EVENTS
In the 100m dash,
Brandon Deas (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Thomas B. Doherty) finished third with a time of 11.12 seconds and was seventh in the 200m dash at 23.23 while teammate
Tinashe Chisora (Harere, Zimbabwe / UWC-Waterford Kamhlaba) was sixth at 22.97 seconds.
Cole Peters was second in the 400m hurdles at 55.79.
Three Norse were among the top-ten in the 800m run including the top-two spots.
Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage) won the event with a time of 1:54.10 followed closely by teammate
Lane Schwarz (LeSuer, Minn. / Le Suer-Henderson) at 1:56.28.
Leo Duffy (Rockford, Minn. / Rockford) was sixth at 1:57.05.
Kaeden Fellingham (Olathe, Kan. / Olathe South) was ninth overall, in the 1500m run at 4:08.54.
In the 3000m steeplechase all three runners earned points toward the team total going six, seven, eight with
Kurt Lebakken (Edina, Minn. / Edina) at 10:29.06, Eli Shubatt (Dubuque, Iowa / Wahlert Catholic) 10:36.15, and
Christian Montover (North Liberty, Iowa / Iowa City Liberty) at 10:43.03.
In relays the 1600m Sprint Medley, Luther finished third recording a time of 3:44.20 with a team of Lefort,
Logan Thompson (Chatfield, Minn. / Chatfield),
Evan Hansen (St. Paul, Minn. / South St. Paul) and Duffy. The 4x100 relay team was second with Deas, Chisora, Peters and
Danny Zewou (Chaska, Minn. / Chaska) who posted the second fastest time in school history at 42.47. But perhaps the best finish was the 4x400 relay to close out the meet taking home first place. The team made up of Chisora, Peters, Kelly and Duffy with a time of 3:23.26.

TOP NORSE
- Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage) won the 800m setting a meet record at 1:54.10 which is also a season best for the Norse in the event.
- The 4x400 relay team set their best time this season at the event as well.
- The 4x100 relay team recorded the second fastest time in school history at 42.47 just .03 of a second from tying top time in outdoor history at 42.44 set in 1968.

The Norse will travel to compete at the Meet of Champions hosted by Augustana (Ill.) in Rock Island, Ill. On Saturday, April 22
nd with times of the events to be determined.
