CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference announced the 2024-25 all-conference wrestling team with four Luther wrestlers earning honors.
Connor Kidd,
Clayton McDonough,
Ben Strehlow and
Walter West were the honorees. The all-conference team is awarded to the top-three A-R-C place winners at the NCAA III Region IV wrestling tournament. All four went to represent Luther at the NCAA Championship.
McDonough earns his third all-conference honors after his third place finish in the 157 weight class. His finish sent him back to the NCAA championship where he finished 8th becoming a two-time All-American. This season he finished with a 33-9 overall record with 14 wins by fall, five major decisions and nine tech falls. McDonough also surpassed 100 career wins becoming the 18th in program history to achieve the mark.
West is a two-time all-conference honoree after winning the 285 bracket at regionals. He finished the year with a 21-3 record with six wins by fall, four major decisions and two tech falls. West finishes his career with a record of 106-26.
Kidd nabbed his first all-conference honor wrestling at 133 finishing second. At the NCAA championship he finished 8th earning his first All-American honors. Overall he was 22-14 picking up 11 wins by fall, three major decisions and three tech falls.
Strehlow also earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career by finishing third in the 197 bracket. On the season he was 23-13 with four wins by fall, four major decisions and four tech falls.
