In the opening round of the championship bracket of the NWCA/USMC Division III National Duals, No. 25 Luther was defeated by No. 4 Johnson & Wales University 40-7.

Luther's points were recorded by nationally ranked No. 5 Clayton McDonough (157) and No. 4 Walter West (285). McDonough posted an 11-1 major decision over Vincent Faldetta. West defeated No. 14 Adolfo Betancur by a final of 2-1. With the wins, McDonough is now 16-5 and West is 8-1 for the year.

Luther is now on the consolation side of the DIII bracket and will face No. 16 UW-Whitewater this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Whitewater was defeated by No. 6 Baldwin Wallace 25-12. The loser of this match will be eliminated from the tournament.
