The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced that three members of the Luther College wrestling team have been named 2026 D3 Men's Scholar All-Americans.

To earn this distinguished honor, a student-athlete must demonstrated excellence both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following academic and athletic criteria:

• WRESTLING - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
  1. Place in top 8 in the regional tournament 
  2. Wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%.
     1. Matches with teammates will count only if they happened in a tournament 
     2. Matches set up between teammates will not count
• ACADEMICS - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
  1. Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters
  2. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2

Receiving this honor included seniors Bryce McDonough (174), Clayton McDonough (165), and Peter Hollingshead (157). Bryce McDonough is now the first four-time honoree of this award in Luther wrestling history. Both Clayton McDonough and Hollingshead are being honored for the first time.

Bryce McDonough completed his senior campaign earning his first All-America honor as the Division III National Championships runner-up. He was 3-1 at the national finale and finished with a record of 30-8. His four-year career total is 111-26. 

Clayton McDonough completed his career as a three-time All-American, twice at 157 (2024, 2025) and this year at 165. He finished the 2025-26 campaign posting a record of 48-4 that included 37 falls. He set the Luther all-time win record with a career mark of 152-28 and also ranks first for career falls with 73.

Hollingshead was 22-16 this season and finished his career with a record of 55-50. 

With these three honors, Luther wrestlers have now earned a combined 91 NWCA Scholar All-American honors since 1985.
