It was a full day of action in the Robert and Ann Naslund Sports and Recreation Center today for the Luther Open. There were 487 men that competed from 25 teams comprised of all three division of the NCAA and Community Colleges across the nation, plus 20 unattached competitors. For the first time this year a full women's tournament was held and 19 teams brought a total of 205 wrestlers plus six more unattached for a total of 208. No team scores.
Next year, Luther has announced it will be fielding its first varsity women's team. .
The Luther Men's Open had two divisions, the Elite Division for returning veterans and the Silver Division for first-year wrestlers.
Luther had four wrestlers place in the Elite Division and four in the Silver Division. Placing in the Elite Division included Issac Ayers at 125 (8th),
Connor Kidd at 133 (6th),
Clayton McDonough at 157 (6th), and
Cullen Quick at 285 (4th). 2024 All-American
Walter West who wrestled unattached and will return to the team for his final semester of eligibility in January, placed third at 285.
In the Silver Division,
Wyatt Weter (184) placed fifth,
Brayden Burmeister (133) placed eighth,
Brian Mitchell (157) placed eighth, and
Griffin Schultz (197) placed eighth.

The Norse return to action one week from today when they will compete at the Auggie Invite hosted by Augusburg University in Si Melby Hall. Start time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
