4x800 sets new school record to earn All-Conference Honors

Leo Duffy, Ian Kelly, Adam Koller, Lane Schwarz all smiles in runner-up finish
DECORAH, Iowa – A wet and soggy day for the second day of the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Regardless of the dreary day the meet went ahead as scheduled. For the Luther Men's Track and Field team they were ready to go. In prelims Cole Peters qualified for finals in the 400-meter hurdles. The 4x800 relay set the new school record with a time of 7:37.04.
 
PRELIMS
Cole Peters (Mazeppa, Minn. / Zumbrota-Mazeppa) qualified for finals in the 400-meter hurdles by finishing first in his heat with a time of 54.92 earning the automatic qualification. He will represent the Norse tomorrow in finals at 3:35 p.m. In 2022, Peters finished fourth at the A-R-C Championship.
 
FINALS
4x800 Relay came in second with a time of 7:37.04 which is the fastest time this season. The group made up of Lane Schwarz (Le Suer, Minn. / Le Suer-Henderson), Leo Duffy (Rockford, Minn. / Rockford), Adam Koller (Worthington, Minn. / Worthington) and Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage) held steadily among the top-three teams to finish as the runner-up.  Their time is now the fastest time in school history eclipsing the record of 7:38.89 set in 2001. They earn All-Conference honors and improved from their fifth place finish from a year ago. 
 
Peters was seventh in the high jump with a height of 1.89m.
 
Kurt Lebakken (Edina, Minn. / Edina) set a new best in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:09.51 finishing 18th.
 
Kaeden Fellingham (Olathe, Kan. / Olathe South) was nineth in the 10,000m run at 32:54.58.

  • The 4x800 relay team shattered the outdoor record that had stood since 2001 to earn All-Conference honors. 
  • Cole Peters (Mazeppa, Minn. / Zumbrota-Mazeppa) won his heat to automatically qualify for the finals in the 400-meter hurdles.
UP NEXT
It's the final day of the A-R-C Outdoor Track and Field Championship with field events beginning at 10:00 a.m. and track events at approximately 1:00 p.m. from Carlson Stadium on Saturday, May 13th.
