ST. PAUL, MINN. – The Luther Men's Track and Field team braved the off and on rainy, windy conditions at the Janis Rider/Doug Bolstorff Invitational.
Cole Peters,
Benjamin Gillikin and
Ian Kelly won first in the 400m hurdles, 800 and 1500m run. The 5000m of the meet ran on Thursday evening with
Malachi Thompson leading the Norse in 15
th.
5000M THURSDAY (APRIL 27TH)
On Thursday, April 27
th three distance runners raced in the 5k with
Malachi Thompson (Johnston, Iowa / Johnston) finishing 15
th at 15:48.96,
Kaeden Fellingham (Olathe, Kan. / Olathe South) in 18
th at 15:53.36 and Ethan Kober (Cedar Falls, Iowa / Cedar Falls) in 29
th at 16:31.22. All three runners were near their personal best times for the event.
SATURDAY
In the 400
Logan Thompson (Chatfield, Minn. / Chatfield) was eighth with a time of 52.75.
Cole Peters (Mazeppa, Minn. / Zumbrota-Mazeppa) took first in the 400m hurdles at 54.76 and he was also second in high jump with a mark of 1.90m.
Benjamin Gillikin (Chester, N.J. / West Morris Central) was first in the 800 at 1:58.44. In the 1500m,
Ian Kelly (Littleton Colo. / Heritage) led the way for the Norse at 3:57.40, followed by
Lane Schwarz (Le Suer, Minn. / Le Suer-Henderson) at 3:58.65 and
Adam Koller (Worthington, Minn. / Worthington) in fifth at 4:01.54. Kelly ran his fastest time of the season for the event and Schwarz was not far from his personal best time in the event.
Kurt Lebakken (Edina, Minn. / Edina) was tenth in the 3000m steeplechase finishing with a time of 10:27.06.
Tancrede Lefort (Golbey, France / St. Joseph) was second in long jump with leap of 6.24m.
The 4x400 relay of
Tinashe Chisora (Harere, Zimbabwe / UWC-Watford Kamhlaba), Peters, Schwarz, and Kelly crossed the line in second place with a mark of 3:31.81
TOP NORSE
- Cole Peters (Mazeppa, Minn. / Zumbrota-Mazeppa), Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage) and Benjamin Gillikin (Chester, N.J. / West Morris Central) all won events on the track for the Norse.
UP NEXT
The Norse will travel to Wartburg on Thursday, May 4
th for their final tune up before the American Rivers Conference Championship. Starting time for the meet is to be determined.
