Luther defeated Loras 7-1 in the first of three games this weekend in Decorah. The Norse tallied nine hits and scored in every frame but two.
Emily Versnik led the Norse attack hitting her first career home run in the second, a solo shot that cleared the left-center treeline behind the fence. Three innings later she belted a two-run shot to left field and finished the game 2-for-2 with three rbi.
Anna Forari had two rbi thanks to a pinch hit single during Luther's three-run fourth.
Sydney Schultz also drove in a run in the fourth on a single to left.
Abby Spore drove in Luther's lone run in the third also with a single to left.
Kendra Cooper went the distance in the circle. Cooper allowed one run on five hits, walked one and struck out 10. The Duhawks lone run was a solo homerun by Jessica Bulanda in the fourth. Cooper is now 13-5 for the year.
The win gives Luther an A-R-C record of 12-10, 23-13 overall. Loras fell to 2-20, 2-24.
