Luther finished its three-game series at Simpson College with a 7-1 victory this afternoon. The Norse scored once in the first, twice in the third and four times in the fourth before the Storm posted its lone run in the fifth.
Elsa Skeie and
Morgan Hogenson both drove in a run in the second with singles to left field and up the middle respectively.
Abby Spore drove in two runs with a single to left field in the fourth. She was followed by a two-run home run by
Kyal Heydt in the same frame.
Emily Versnik led the team with three hits (3-for-4) and Hogenson had two (2-for-3).
Kendra Cooper went the distance in the circle for the second time of this series. Cooper allowed one unearned run on four hits. She walked three and struck out six en route to improving her season record to 12-5.
The win gives Luther and A-R-C record of 11-10, 22-13 overall. Simpson fell to 10-11, 13-16.
The Norse will wrap up their A-R-C regular season schedule this week at home. The first two games of a three-game home stand against Loras College will be played on Thursday, May 6 starting at 2:00 p.m. The final game will be played on Saturday, May 8 with a start time of 1:00 p.m.
