Luther and Central started its three-game American Rivers Conference series with a double header this afternoon. In game one, Central scored three runs in the top of the seventh to secure a 4-2 come-from-behind victory.
Central took a 1-0 lead in the second. Luther answered with runs in both the third and fourth frames. In the top of the seventh, the Dutch tied the game at 2-2 after the Norse committed an error and then went on to manufacture two more runs to secure the victory.
Kendra Cooper (9-1) picked up her first loss of the season in the circle. Cooper allowed six hits, walked two and struck out eight.
the Norse had eight hits off Dutch starter Sydni Huisman.
Sydney Schultz and
Elsa Skeie were both 2-for-4.
Morgan Hogenson doubled to right-center in the third that drove in Luther's first run of the game.
Katie Brennan drove in a run in the fourth with an infield single.
The loss gives Luther an A-R-C record of 3-3, 14-6 overall. This was Central's first league game of the year. The Dutch are now 3-2 overall.
