Luther batters combined for 12 hits as the Norse rolled to a 10-0 victory in five innings in today's night cap. The Norse scored a run in the first, added four in the second and tacked on five in the fifth to secure the victory.
Sam Thompson (5-0) went the distance in the circle. Thompson gave up five hit that included four singles and a double. She did not issue a walk and struck out one. She also had a solid defensive effort behind her. Eight of Central's 15 outs were infield ground balls. The Norse also threw out a Dutch base runner in the third and finished the game with a 6-4-3 double play.
Elsa Skeie had a big game going 3-for-3 with 5 rbi.
Emily Versnik drove in two runs and
Sydney Schultz drove in one.
Hannah Halverson also had a multiple hit game with a two-for-three effort at the plate and scored twice.
The win gives Luther an A-R-C record of 4-3, 15-6 overall. Central is now 1-1 in league play, 3-3 overall.
