No. 16 Wartburg College defeated Luther 17-4 in five innings this afternoon here in the valley. The Knights scored in every inning while recording 14 hits. Luther scored a run in the first and third innings and two in the fourth.

Emily Versnik drove in the only rbi of the afternoon on a single in the fourth. Syndey Schultz had two of Luther's five hits, hitting a double in the first and a single in the second and finished the afternoon 2-for-3.

Sam Thompson (9-2) was credited with the loss in the circle. Thompson allowed 11 runs on nine hits and walked three.  Abbey Gapinski pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed six runs on five hits. and walked one.

The Knights Ashley Nelson (8-1) was credited with the victory allowing four runs on five hits. She walked one and struck out two.

The loss levels Luther's A-R-C record to 9-9, 20-12 overall. Wartburg improved to 13-5 in conference action, 22-6 overall.

Luther has two more three-game series remaining. The first will take place April 30 and May 2 when the Norse will travel to Simpson College. Friday the 30th the two teams will play a double header starting at 2:00 p.m., and on Sunday the 2nd they will play a single game that will begin at 2 p.m.
