Luther and Buena Vista completed the first game of this American Rivers Conference series today. Yesterday, the game was halted after six complete with the Beavers holding a 6-4 lead, due to heavy rain that made the field unplayable. This afternoon, BVU tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh to secure an 8-4 victory.
Luther jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second thanks to a two-run home run by
Abby Spore and an rbi double by
Kyal Heydt. BVU answered with three runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in today's seventh inning.
BVU starting pitcher Ashtyn Miller held the Norse to four hits. She walked seven and struck out eight.
Kendra Cooper was credited with the loss after pitching six complete, allowing six runs on six hits. She walked two and struck out six.
The loss gives Luther a league record of 5-6, 16-9 overall. BVU improved to 5-5 in conference action, 13-9 overall.
