Luther swept the four-game series with Buena Vista University, winning game four 6-3 this afternoon in Storm Lake, Iowa. The win was the sixth in a row for the Norse who sit atop the American Rivers Conference standings with a mark of 11-1.
The Norse had seven hits and scored once in the first, twice in the fifth and three times in the eighth, en route to the victory.
Kelby Johnson and
Joe Jersak both drove in two runs, while
Luke Plunkett and
Joe McKibben were credited with one rbi each. Lead-off batter Peyton Lindmak was the only player to have a multiple hit game. Lindmark was 3-for-4.
Five different pitchers stood on the mound.
Nate Loch, who pitched innings four and five was credited with the win.
Collin Chalmers finished the game and was credited with the save, his fourth of the year.
Luther is scheduled to host Nebraska Wesleyan University for a four-game series Friday and Saturday April 16-17. Friday's double header will begin at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday's twin bill will begin at Noon.
