Luther had its six-game win streak snapped in game one of the four-game home series with Nebraska Wesleyan University. After falling behind the Norse 3-1 after three, the Prairie Wolves scored four runs in the fourth and one in the sixth to secure a 6-3 victory.
The Prairie Wolves had 13 hits, led by Derek Kolbush who was 2-for-4 with three rbi that included a solo home run over the right field fence in the third.
Kelby Johnson and
Kyle Schnobrich led a Norse attack that produced nine hits. Johnson was 2-for-4 and Schnobrich was 2-for-2 with a sacrifice fly to center field in the third.
Charlie Rubendall drove in a run in the second with a triple off the left-center field fence that scored Schnobrich.
Joe McKibben followed with an rbi single that scored Rubendall.
Tyler Boesel was credited with the loss. Boesel lasted 3 1/3 innings, allowed five runs on 11 hits, did not issue a walk and struck out four.
Nate Loch and
Calvin Brinda pitched the final 2 2/3 frames.
The loss gives Luther an American Rivers Conference record of 11-2, 15-6 overall. Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 5-12 in the A-R-C, 7-16 overall.
