Luther and the University of Northwestern (MN) met at the Rochester Regional Dome today for a non-conference double header. The Norse pounded out 13 hits in game one and posted a 10-1 victory in seven innings.
The Norse got on the board in the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single by
Katie Brennan that scored
Hannah Halverson. Luther broke the game open with a seven-run sixth inning highlighted by two-run doubles from
Belle Berg and
Elsa Skeie. Brennan and
Emily Versnik added RBI singles and
Sydney Schultz had an RBI double in the frame. The Norse would score two more in the seventh on a RBI triple by Brennan and a RBI single by
Morgan Hogenson.Â
Kendra Cooper threw six innings in the circle to pick up her fourth win of the season, giving up three hits, an unearned run, walking two and striking out eight.Â
Brennan went 3-4 at the plate with a triple and three RBI. Skeie added two hits and two RBI. Schultz also had two hits for the Norse.Â
The win gives Luther an overall record of 5-2, while Northwestern fell to 1-4.
