MEQUON, Wis. - The Norse traveled to Mequon Wis to compete in a tri-match between the host Concordia University (Wis.) and Elmhurst University. They dropped both sets losing to the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons 1-3 (16-25, 25-20, 13-25, 13-25), and the Elmhurst Bluejays 1-3 (31-29, 21-25, 23-25, 19-25).

Game 1: Luther 1, Concordia Wis. 3
Luther started their day in a 4 set match falling to the Falcons. The Falcons and the Norse have had two match ups with the Falcons taking both wins. Recording a hitting percentage of 0.196 and 14 aces, Concordia extended their historical lead today making it a 3-0 match history between the two teams. Leading the Norse offense today was Kylie Zeigler with 10 kills, followed by Lisa Schiltgen with 7 and Ruby Gerhard with 6. At the net, Gerhard recorded 6 blocks and Avery Amsden had 4. On defense, Victoria Gomez had 18 digs along with Abi Houston with 13 and Sophia Morken had 8.Â

Game 2: Luther 1, Elmhurst 3Â
The match started with a hard fought battle point for point between these two teams. The Norse came out with high energy in the first set hitting a 0.206 hitting percentage and recording 17 kills in the set. After taking the first set 31-29, Luther later dropped the next 3 sets and the Bluejays took the match in 4 sets. The last time these two teams played each other was back in Oct. of 2010 where the Norse took the match 3-0. These teams are now at an even 1-1 in their match history with the Bluejays taking the match today. The stat leaders for the Norse at the net were Kylie Zeigler with 16 kills, Sophia Morken and Victoria Gomez each with 2 aces, and Iris Elias with 28 assists. Ruby Gerhard led the defense with 3 blocks and 20 digs and Elias matched Gerhard with 20 digs as well.Â
The Norse will continue down their schedule and come home to Decorah for their home opener against the Buena Vista University Beavers on Tuesday Sept. 22nd at 6 p.m..
