RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Luther men's soccer team won its second straight game after beating the University of Wisconsin-River Falls 4-3.
Ignacio Duenas and
Francesco Mungari tallied two goals each in the contest. Luther improves to 2-1-1 overall.
In the first half, Duenas opened up the game for the Norse in the 12
th minute as he faked out the goalkeeper and fired it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, the lead was doubled with a low shot into the lower righthand corner by Duenas. The goals kept coming for the Norse as Mungari got on the score sheet after his short-range shot went by the Falcons goalie in the 21
st minute (3-0). However, UW-River Falls clawed back two goals with one in the 31
st minute and one in the 38
th minute to make it 3-2 at halftime.
The fourth goal of the game for Luther came in the 73
rd minute with Mungari used his speed to dribble around the goalie knocking it into the back of the net (4-2). UW-River Falls wasn't going away quietly as they cut the lead to one in the 75
th minute (4-3). The Norse were able to hold on until the final whistle to win the game 4-3.
Luther led the following statistical categories shots (21-9), shots on goal (14-5) and corner kicks (8-3). Duenas recorded his first multi-goal game of his career.
The Falcons drop to 3-3-1 overall.
