WINONA, Minn. - The Luther Volleyball team traveled to Winona, Minn. today to compete in The Saint Mary's University Triangular against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and host Saint Mary's.The Norse dropped both matches going 1-3 against the Eagles of UW-La Crosse (25-27, 22-25, 25-22, 21-25), and 0-3 against the Saint Mary's Cardinals (13-25, 18-25, 12-25).

Game 1: Luther 1, UWL 3Â
The Norse fought in a hard 4 set match but just came up short to the Eagles. UW-La Crosse used their points on aces to take the match, recording 13 aces to Luther's 8. It was an even match up between the two on paper seeing that there were not many large gaps in recorded kills, blocks, or digs. Ruby Gerhard led the Norse in kills in this match with 12, Liv Glumack followed behind with 8, and Lisa Schiltgen rounded out the top three with 7. From the service line, Sophia Morken and Iris Elias each had 3 aces on the night and Elias also recorded 30 assists. Avery Amsden fought off the Eagles at the net with 3 blocks alongside Gerhard with 3 and Glumack with 1. Rounding out tonight's defensive efforts was Abi Houston with 21 digs.Â

Game 2: Luther 0, Saint Mary's 3
Luther closed out their night falling to the Cardinals. The Saint Mary's offense outperformed the Norse at the net hitting a 0.280 hitting percentage and recording 5 blocks for the match.The stat leaders for the Norse were Kylie Zeigler leading the team with 9 kills and Iris Elias with 18 assists. Behind the service line, Elias put up 3 aces while Ella Goodnight and Zeigler each recorded 1.Â

Luther Volleyball will be back on Saturday Sept. 19th where they will have another tri-match facing Elmhurst and host Concordia Wis.. The first match against the Elmhurst Bluejays will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by a match up against Concordia at 12:30 p.m. in Mequon, Wis.Â
