DECATUR, Ill. - The Luther football team lost to Millian University by a final score of 37-14. The Norse trailed 23-0 at halftime but were able to score a touchdown in the third and fourth quarter. Millikin recorded 399 total yards of offense which included 255 rushing yards.
Midway through the third quarter and trailing 30-0 the Norse put together a 65-yard scoring drive. On fourth down and eight at the Millikin 39-yard line freshman quarterback
CJ Walker connected with
Bryce Buckley for the touchdown and extra point by
Sean Medcalfe with 5:07 remaining in the quarter.
Luther's other touchdown of the day came in the fourth quarter. The drive started at the Millikin 47-yard line and capped off with an eight-yard touchdown run by Walker.
Christopher Jones led the team with eight tackles which included two for a loss. Three players were tied with seven each including
Tyler Ragan,
Cody Rieder and
Jacob Olerud.
Luther faces Beloit College on Saturday, Sept. 19 with kickoff at 1 p.m. in Beloit, Wis. It will be the first Midwest Conference game for the Norse in program history.
