Gwost Named NCBWA Division III National Player of the Week

On Wednesday, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Luther College Baseball senior Zach Gwost of Little Falls, Minn. was named national player of the week. He was recognized as the hitter of the week for his performance on the field from April 20-26.

Gwost helped the baseball team to an American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) regular season title after sweeping Simpson College over the weekend. It was the first outright title since 1985 and the 14th in school history in the Iowa Conference/A-R-C. He hit .579 going 11-for-19 with six extra base hits. He had four homeruns and 15 rbi over five games and tallied seven runs. In game two of the doubleheader against the Simpson he was 3-for-4 with two runs, two homeruns and six rbi.

He is the first player to be honored with NCBWA Division National Player of the Week honors since pitcher Colin Coffey on March 18, 2018.
