The Luther College baseball team's nine-game win streak came to an end this morning in the valley, as the Central College Dutch defeated the Norse 6-3. Three of the Dutch six runs were unearned, as the Norse committed three errors, two in the first two innings that helped the Dutch start with a 4-0 lead.
The Norse managed two runs in the second, but were held scoreless until posting their final run in the bottom of the seventh. In the ninth, the Norse loaded the basses with two outs, but were unable to score.Â
Ike Swanson hit a two-run single in the second and
Zach Gwost doubled to left field that scored
Xavier Millan.Â
Brody Von Berge was credited with the loss. Von Berge allowed five runs on seven hits in four innings of work.
Sam Dick took over and allowed one run on three hits and struck out seven.
CJ Boudreaux struck out three of the five batters he faced in the final inning and a third.Â

Despite the loss, Luther remains atop the American Rivers Conference standings with a mark of 12-4, 22-8 overall. Simpson (8-4) and Coe (10-5) are second and third respectively, and Central is fourth (8-7).Â
The Norse return to action for a three-game series at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and Saturday's double header will begin at 1 p.m.
