DECORAH, Iowa – The Luther men's basketball team was defeated by Wartburg 75-66. The Norse had a 39-26 lead at halftime before the Knights erased the deficit by shooting 61.5 percent in the second half. The Norse were able to claw back with a three-pointer from
Owen Poloronis that tied the game at 58 with 5:03 remaining. However, Wartburg was able to hold off the home team from getting any closer. The Knights scored 49 points in the second frame.
Andre Palavra led the team with 16 points followed by
Charlie Wunderlich with 15.
Henry Kreckman had six rebounds.
The Knights shot 50 percent from the field for the game. Luther won the battle of the boards (36-32).
Wartburg was led by Austin Bienemann with 24 points. The Knights are 12-7 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
On the year, Luther drops to 6-13 overall and 1-9 in the conference.
