STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Luther men's basketball team lost to Buena Vista 66-63. The Beavers held a seven-point advantage at halftime (37-30). In the second half, the score was tied three times at 44, 61, and 63 and there were four lead changes. Luther is 6-10 overall and 1-6 in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C).
 
With 35 seconds remaining in the contest Andre Palavra hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 63. Out of the timeout, Buena Vista passed the ball around whittling the time down as they hit a three-pointer with seven seconds left. The Norse had the final shot but missed the shot from three to send the game to overtime.
 
Palavra led the Norse scorers with 17 points followed by 16 from Jeremy Andera and Henry Kreckman. Kreckman recorded his sixth double-double this season (11 rebounds).
 
The Beavers improve to 11-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Carter Sievers led the team with 18 points.
 
The next game is at home on Wednesday, Jan. 17 against the University of Dubuque at 7:30 p.m.
