LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Luther volleyball team fell in a pair of four set matches to St. Mary's (MN) and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Wednesday. The Norse took set three in both matches.
Game 1: Luther 1, St. Mary's 3
Down two sets, the Norse roared back in the third set hitting .261 while limiting the Cardinals to a negative .054 hitting percentage. The Cardinals would take the match winning the fourth set.
Ruby Gerhard led the team with seven kills on twelve attempts and two errors (.417).
Azaria McDonough had 14 assists which is a career high.
Victoria Gomez had 12 digs.
Game 2: Luther 1, UW-La Crosse 3
Just like the first game Luther was down two sets. In the third set
Liv Glumack and
Annika Franzen had three kills each an no errors. The team hit .344 in the third frame and won the set 25-18. The Eagles had seven blocks in the match compared to four by the Norse.
McDonough tallied a double-double with 19 assists and 14 digs. Gomez had 17 digs.
Luther is back in La Crosse, Wis. at the UW-La Crosse Volleyball Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12 where they will take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 5 p.m.
