Saturday Recap: Luther secured the No. 3 seed for the
A-R-C Baseball Tournament after defeating Nebraska Wesleyan University 14-2 in seven innings this afternoon in the valley. The Norse tallied 16 hits and scored eight runs in the second, four in the third and two in the sixth en route to the victory.

Mark Prince,
Garren Heinert, Will Heitoff and
Noah Pinette all had multiple hit afternoons. Prince set the single season home run record (11), after hitting a three-run shot in the third. He finished the afternoon with a team best four rbi. Matanich tied the career school record for rbi (171) with a single in the sixth frame. Growst and Pinettte were also credited with two rbi, while
Gavin Scurr, Heinert,
Ike Swanson and
Noah Dutler all drove in one run.
Josh Stratton (4-3) was credited with the win. Stratton pitched four innings, allowed one run on three hits, did not issue a walk and struck out seven.
As the No. 3 seed of the tournament, Luther will face the No. 6 seed (TBD) at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 8 at Mount Mercy University for a first round game.
Friday Recap: Luther swept today's double header versus Nebraska Wesleyan University winning game one 13-3 in eight innings and 7-4 in the nightcap.
Game One Recap:Â Luther exploded for 11 hits and blew this game open with a six-run third. The Norse also scored a run in the second and three in both the sixth and eighth frames.
Mark Prince and
Garren Heinert led the attack driving in four and three runs respectively. Prince was 3-for-4 that included his 10th home run of the year, a three-run shot in the sixth. It also marked the second time he has hit 10 home runs in a single season, tying the single season school record. He shares the record with Ben Schott (2007-10) who tallied 10 in 2010. His career total is now 26 that ranks third all-time tied with John Jaeger (2002-05). Heinert drove in a run with a (5-3 sac) in the second and a two-run single in the third.Â
Gavin Scurr, who hit a solo shot in the eighth, also had a multiple hit game as did designated hitter
Noah Dutler.Â
Kaleb Thiesse (5-2) three six innings allowing three runs on six hits, walked one and struck out six en route to the win on the mound.

Game Two Recap: The Norse scored seven runs on eight hits, scoring twice in both the second and sixth innings and posted three on the board in the fifth.
Joshua Matanich crept closer to the school record for career RBI, thanks to a two-run home run to right-center field in the fifth, his eighth of the year. It also marked the 29th of his career, one shy of tying the school record held by Luther Hall of Fame inductee Kyle Schroeder (2004-07). Matanich will enter the final game of the regular season with 171 career RBI, one shy of tying the school record also held by Schroeder (172).
Scurr, Dutler and
Noah Pinette were also credited with one RBI each.
Charles Running (4-2) was credited with the win in relief. Running took over for
Nolan Klocke who pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowed two runs on three hits, walked three and struck out three, but got into a jam loading the bases in the fifth. Running took the mound, got the final two outs of the frame, and went on to allowed two runs on four hits, he walked one and struck out one, the rest of the way.
