Luther traveled to Dubuque, Iowa and wrapped up the three-game series that started last Tuesday, April 15 in Decorah. The Norse swept the Duhawks today 8-4 and 16-6 in eight innings and secured the sweep of the series.
Game 1 Recap: The Norse scored eight runs on 10 hits.
Zach Gwost led the offensive attack going 2-for-5 and hit a grand slam home run in the fifth.
Gavin Scurr, who was 2-for-4 at the plate drove in two runs, while
Noah Dutler and
Tyrus Werner were also credited with an RBI. Dutler hit a solo home run in the second and finished the game 2-for-4. Werner also had a multiple hit effort with a 2-for-3 performance.
Kaleb Thiesse (4-2) was credited with the win. Thiesse threw 4 2/3 innings, allowed four runs on six hits and struck out three.

Game 2 Recap: In the nightcap, the Norse bats exploded for 15 hits that led to 16 runs.
Mark Prince, Josh Matanich and Dutler led the offensive attack. Prince was 3-for-4 with 4 RBI. Matanich was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, and Dutler was 1-for-3 with 4 RBI. Prince hit a two-run home run in the seventh and Matanich his a solo shot in the fifth.
Ike Swanson also had a multiple hit effort going 2-for-3 and drove in one run. Scurr and
Noah Pinette were also credited with one RBI.
Josh Stratton (3-3) was credited with the win. Stratton threw five innings, allowed five run on 11 hits and struck out five.

The two wins gives Luther an A-R-C record of 10-11, 14-20 overall. The Norse are now in fourth place in the league standings with one three-game series at home against Nebraska Wesleyan University remaining on the conference schedule. This Sunday, April 27, the Norse are scheduled to play the Knights of Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. This double header will begin at 1 p.m.
