Friday Recap:
The University of Dubuque Spartans tallied 16 hits en route to a 10-2 victory over Luther this afternoon in Dubuque, Iowa. This was the first game of the three-game series. The two teams will finish with a double header on Saturday that is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
The Spartans scored four runs in both the second and third frames and added a run in the fourth and seventh. Luther scored a run in the seventh and the eighth.
Josh Matanich had the only multiple hit effort for the Norse going 2-for-4.
Noah Pinette and
Ike Swanson were both credited with an RBI.

Saturday Recap:
Game Two
The University of Dubuque's Aidan Elfering (3-4) threw seven scoreless innings and led the Spartans to a 6-0 victory in game one of today's twin bill. Elfering allowed six hits and struck out nine.
The Spartans took control of a scoreless game scoring five runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth. They added a run in the eighth en route to the win.
Matanich had two of the Norse six hits going 2-for- 4 at the plate.
Nolan Klocke (1-3) was knocked off the mound after throwing 5 2/3 innings. He allowed five runs on five hits, walked three and struck out eight.

Game Three
Luther scored 13 runs on 14 hits and won the third and final game of this series 13-8 in 10 innings. The Norse scored once in the third, twice in both the fourth and ninth innings, three in the sixth and five in the 10th.
Brody Von Berge (1-4) was credited with the win in relief. Von Berge threw the final 2 2/3 innings, allowed two runs on two hits, walked two and struck out four.Â
Josh Matanich and
Will Heithoff led the Norse attack. Both were 3-for-5 at the plate and drove in three runs. Matanich hit a two-run home run in the fourth and Heithoff hit a two-run home run in the ninth, that at the time gave the Norse an 8-6 lead.
Gavin Scurr and
Garren Heinert also had multiple hit efforts, both going 2-for-6 at the plate.

Luther (12-20, 8-11) is now in fifth place in the American Rivers Standings. The top six teams will make the A-R-C Tournament that will be played May 8-10 at Rise 2 Greatness Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This coming Tuesday, April 22, the Norse will travel to Loras College (16-16, 6-10) for a double header that will begin at 3:30 p.m.
