DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther men's basketball team was defeated by the University of Dubuque 60-59 in a hard fought battle that had 10 lead changes and neither team led by more than seven points. With 23 seconds remaining in the first half,
Aidan Bailey knocked down a three-pointer to pull the Norse to within two (24-26). Bailey finished the evening with seven points.
One minute into the second frame Luther was trailing by five for the fifth time in this contest, but battled back and held a 46-41 advantage following two free throws by
Mikkel Schuttee at the midway point. In the final 10 minutes, the Spartans outscored the Norse 19-13 to secure the come-from-behind victory.
Javier Rowel and
Will Bockenstedt led the Norse with double digit efforts. Rowel scored a career high 13 points, while Bockenstedt tallied 12. Schutte, Bailey and Rowel led the team with five each. The Luther bench outscored the Dubuque bench 33-6.
Dubuque improved to 15-5 overall and 9-2 in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C).
Luther falls to 1-19 overall and 0-12 in the A-R-C.
