LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Luther men's basketball ended their four game losing streak with an 84-69 win over Viterbo. Four players recorded double digits including
Charlie Wunderlich,
Jeremy Andera,
Andre Palavra and
Henry Kreckman. This marked the first time this season that Luther dropped 40-plus points in both quarters.
With 3:28 remaining in the first half the Norse went on a 10-2 run to take a 43-35 lead at halftime. In the first half, Luther shot 53.5 percent from the floor including 50 percent from the arc.
In the second half, the V-Hawks cut the lead to four (46-42) with 18:11 remaining. Luther kept up the pressure holding off Viterbo. The largest lead of the night for the Norse was 16 points with 39 seconds to play.
Wunderlich led the team with 23 points for a season and career high. He was followed by Andera (15), Palavra (13) and Kreckman (12).
Yigit Yarisci and Kreckman each had eight rebounds.
The Norse improve to 5-4 overall and Viterbo falls to 2-8.
Luther will play their final home game of the first half of the season versus Concordia College (MN) on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. in Decorah.
