CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Luther men's soccer team (6-2-5, 3-0-2 A-R-C) defeated Coe (4-6-4, 2-3-0 A-R-C) 4-1 at Clark Field on Saturday.
Paul Menge scored two goals in the contest. The other goals came from
Enzo Mitidieri and
Francesco Mungari.
The Norse were on the board in the 13th minute when Mitidieri scored the game winning goal assisted by
Paulo Mercante and
Francesco Mungari. The Luther defense held Coe to zero shots in the first half and a 1-0 advantage heading into the break.
In the second half, Luther scored three more goals. In the 68th minute, Mungari crossed it into
Enrique Lopez Barriga who headed it towards Menge who was able to bury it into the back of the net.
Three minutes later, Mungari stole the ball away and used his speed to dribble forward scoring his sixth goal of the season. The final goal for the Norse came in the 88th minute as
Lenny Lechner's shot was punched away by Kohawk goalkeeper Jr. Holland but Menge picked up the rebound for his second goal of the game.
Coe added a goal late in the 89th minute by Isaiah Jackel but the Norse secured the three points and another conference victory 4-1.
Luther has out scored conference opponents 14-4 in their last five games.
The Norse will travel to Simpson on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. in Indianola, Iowa.
