DECORAH, Iowa — The Luther men's soccer team (5-2-5, 2-0-2) shutout Central (6-3-4, 2-1-2) 5-0 on a rainy Tuesday night. Goals were scored by
Ignacio Duenas,
Enzo Mitidieri,
Francesco Mungari,
Lenny Lechner and
David Barlecaj. The victory also marked head coach
Chris Garcia-Prats 200th win.
It didn't take long for the Norse to get on the board first.
Paul Menge passed it to Duenas who shot it to the lower right corner for a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. Four minutes later, the Norse extended their lead this time with a goal from Mitidieri for his fourth goal of the season. The final goal of the first half came in the 33rd minute from Mungari for a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
Two more goals came in the second half. Lechner scored in the 69th minute after breaking free and taking a shot through traffic for a 4-0 lead. Then with six seconds left in the game Barlecaj spun away from his defender scoring his second goal of the season.
Matthew Woolf and Lechner were credited with assists. The Norse picked up their second straight conference win 5-0.
Luther will head on the road for their next game on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Coe in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at 3:30 p.m.
