The men's swimming and diving team finished the two-day Grinnell College Invitational in fourth place. There were nine teams in the field. Grinnell has a 10-lane pool so the top-10 place finishers in both the A Finals and B Finals produce points.

Grinnell won the team title with 1245.5 points. Augustana-Rock Island (IL) was second (994.5), followed by Saint Ambrose University (808) and Luther (551).

During the two days of competition, Kevin Kretz set the Luther school record in the 100 IM (54.71), and posted the fourth fastest time in school history in the 100 butterfly. Samuel Schleicher posted the 10th fastest time in school history in the 200 butterfly. The 200 medley foursome of Drew Chamberlain, Gabe Armstrong, Kretz and Nico Shrestha posted the seventh fastest time in school history. Colin Halverson won both the one-meter (11 dives) and three-meter (11 dives) competitions.

The Norse will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 25 when they will host Loras College and St. Olaf College for a double dual. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
