The men's basketball team fell to (0-2) in the American Rivers Conference after dropping a 76-64 road decision to the University of Dubuque (1-0). The Spartans led for almost 34 minutes in this contest shooting 52 percent (26-50) from the field. The Spartans won three critical aspects of the game, points off turnovers (22-9), points in the paint (42-28), and second chance points (13-9).
After falling behind 38-21 at halftime, the Norse played much better in the second half, outscoring the Spartans 43-38. In this half the Norse shot 55.6 percent (15-27) and finished the game shooting 47.1 percent (24-51).
Mikkel Schutte continued to lead the Norse scoring a game high 20 points. Schutte was 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe.
Andre Palavra also tallied double digits with 15.
Four Spartans reached double digits led by Jacob Williams with 19. Jaylin McCants had 17, followed by Grady Thompson and Jalen Scott who both were credited with 13.
