DES MOINES, IOWA – The Luther Men's Track and Field sent the 4x800 relay team to compete at the legendary Drake Relays. The team made up of
Ian Kelly (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage),
Lane Schwarz (Le Suer, Minn. / Le Suer-Henderson),
Adam Koller (Worthington, Minn. / Worthington) and
Leo Duffy (Rockford, Minn. / Rockford) finished with a time of 7:45.53 for 13
th overall.
DISTANCE CARNIVAL
During the indoor season this same team set a new school record with a time of 7:50.85 at the American Rivers Conference Indoor Championship. Their time broke a record that had stood since 2017. But this will be the first opportunity to run the event at an outdoor event this season.
For seniors
Ian Kelly and
Lane Schwarz both have been at the relays three times over their careers. Kelly ran in the 2021 and the distance medley in 2022. As for Schwarz he's been a part of two distance medley teams running the event in 2021 and 2022.
Junior
Leo Duffy finds himself at his second appearance while also a member of the 2021 distance medley team. And for junior
Adam Koller this is his first time at the Drake Relays.
The field originally was made up of 16 but two teams didn't start. Overall, the Norse finished 13
th with a time of 7:45.53. To even be at the blue oval is saying that this is a team to watch going down the stretch. Their finish time is just outside the top-ten all-time in school history for the event.
UP NEXT
Luther will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota on Saturday, April 29
th for the Rider/Bolstoff Invitational hosted by Macalester with field events beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT and track events at 11:00 a.m. CT.
