DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Luther Baseball team got on the board early but it wasn't enough to get past the Spartans in the 11-3 loss. Dubuque took the series 2-1 as Luther dropped to 19-10 overall and 12-2 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C).
EARLY LEAD NOT ENOUGH
The leadoff hitter,
Cullen Stamp roped a single into left field and quickly stole second.
Charlie Rubendall was hit by a pitch and the bases were loaded when
Peyton Lindmark walked. Then
Gabe Atkins singled up the middle as two runners came across for a quick 2-0 lead. Dubuque cut the lead in half in their first at bat of the game.
The following inning Stamp used a sac fly, building another two-run lead for the 3-1 advantage. He drove in
Mark Prince who singled as the lead-off batter in the inning. In the third inning the Spartans took control scoring three runs followed by one in the fourth, three in fifth and three in the eighth. Luther had no answers in the 11-3 loss as Dubuque took the series. However, the Norse still sit second in conference with a 12-2 record behind Buena Vista at 15-1. Overall, Luther is 19-10.
