No. 4 Luther and No. 5 Coe faced each other in an opening round game of the American Rivers Conference Tournament this mourning at Daniels Park, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Kohawks defeated the Norse 3-0, scoring a run in the third, eighth and ninth innings.

TJ Deardorff threw a complete game five-hit shutout to lead the Kohawks to the victory. Deardorff faced 32 batters, issued one walk and struck out six.

Luke Plunkett had two of Luther's five hits. Ryan Manternach pitched 7 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on three hits.

The Norse will return to action this evening in an elimination game against No. 3 Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Prairie Wolves were defeated by No. 6 Wartburg College 13-2 in the other opening round game. First pitch tonight at Veterans Memorial Stadium is slated for 8:00 p.m.
